Our new Women’s Health Worker service is generously funded by Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust (GMMHFT).
The Women’s Health Worker at Salford Foundation supports women to holistically improve their physical health, mental wellbeing and overall quality of life. Many women we work with face barriers to accessing healthcare and feel overwhelmed navigating the multitude of services. The Women’s Health Worker provides practical support, advocacy, and encouragement to reduce health inequality.
Support will take a trauma informed and person-centered approach. This can look like helping women to access GP and health appointments, advocating for their needs and wishes, as well as connecting them with community activities to promote wellbeing.
An aim is to empower women to take an active role in their health and wellbeing. Through support women can build confidence, reduce isolation and develop health coping mechanisms.
The service focuses on supporting women who have been assessed and identified as having a health need. This includes women who are involved in the criminal justice system referred to our Together Women Project and female victims of domestic abuse referred to our Safe in Salford Partnership. You can also be referred externally through agencies such as Living Well and GMWSA.
