Salford Foundation has been working in primary schools, high schools and pupil referral units supporting children and young people aged 8-18 for over 35 years. Each year, our Mentors support over 700 pupils across Greater Manchester with targeted mentoring and support.
Our Youth Mentors are professional paid staff who are highly experienced at working with vulnerable children including those with Social Emotional Behavioural Needs, Emotional School Avoidance and SEND. We also specialise in Early Help for Families, Primary to High School Transitions and pupils at risk becoming involved in Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime or Serious Youth Violence, Young People at Risk of becoming NEET.
We provide a safe, confidential space for all pupils and conduct initial home visits to understand each pupils needs, risks and family environment.
“My Mentor has helped me by teaching me ways that I can control my emotions. It is a safe space for me to talk about my feelings.”
Our Re:Engage alternative provision can be delivered in school or offsite in the community. Mentors work with each pupil, their family and school staff to help pupils understand their emotions, address their needs, develop their personal & social skills and jointly agree a bespoke action plan.
Young people will receive intensive weekly mentoring sessions of 1 hour delivered over 1 term (i.e. total of 16 sessions). This support will help young people to manage their emotions, understand their behaviour, and remove any barriers to attending or engaging with school. The overall impact is full integration back into mainstream school.
