Online Resources

COVID-19 Update

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to reduce our face-to-face delivery and delivered services online to schools and colleges.

We will continue to add a range of resources that support with transition to high school, careers and work skills.

Please find below a list of our resources which are being made available and don’t forget to keep checking back for more updates.

Boost Transitions

The Boost Transitions workbook aims to support year 6 pupils through what may be a challenging time for them due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The first part of the workbook uses themes from the ‘Boost Salford’ mental toughness programme and contains activities which will encourage positive thinking, goal setting, managing emotions and conflict resolution. The second part of the workbook comprises of activities which will address a number of concerns and uncertainties the children may have about moving up to high school.

There are 3 versions available:

  • A printable workbook version (PDF), which can be found below.
  • An on-screen instructions version (PDF), which can also be found below.
  • An interactive Google Slides/Google Classrooms version which can be requested by emailing katie.taylor@salfordfoundation.org.uk

In addition to the transitions workbook,  we have created a number of guidance videos which some children may find useful. Each video explains in more detail, how to complete a small number of tasks from the workbook, giving opportunities to pause and complete the activities one at a time. The videos each explain around 30 minutes worth of activities.

World of Work

Welcome to the world of work online activity. A chance to learn about what jobs are out there in the world and what’s better – here in Manchester.

For this activity, we invite a variety of businesses to talk to you about different jobs, industries, qualifications and their personal journeys into their chosen job. You will hear from four different businesses and staff members.

  1. First thing to do is download the activity sheet (Word), then watch the video linked below.
  2. As the video is playing, fill out the ‘notes’ section of the activity.
  3. Finally, after watching the video, complete the second page of the activity.

We’d love to hear how you found the activity and what you’ve learnt. If you want, you can send your completed activity sheet back to us by emailing; takefive@salfordfoundation.org.uk

If you’re a school and would like a 1 hour World of Work lesson for your PSHE lessons, which includes a Google Classroom and all activities supported with google apps like docs and forms, please contact us via email at: jason.king@salfordfoundation.org.uk

Key Skills

The Key Skills resources can be used to become more familiar and confident with the skills needed in the world of work. Students can begin with an overview with Working Skills and then  explore the following skills in depth: Communication, Time Management, Self-Awareness and Problem Solving.

Students can either print out the activities attached and follow instructions, or  complete the activities using pen and paper.

Once the activities have been completed, send in the completed activities (the document or a photo of your work) to raisingaspirations@salfordfoundation.org.uk and you will be awarded a badge for each session you complete!
